According to the Iran daily newspaper, published by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on January 11, 2003, this sentence was handed down by a judge in southern Tehran. Under Iran&#8217;s Islamic law, consuming alcohol is forbidden and is usually punished by lashes or fines.
